A few months ago I let good friends of mine Times Neue Roman and Styrofoam Ones, borrow my tent for a road-trip gig, with stops along highway 401 in Ontario. The boys did their best to tie said tent to the roof of their van, with twine. Needless to say, the tent never made it to stop one, it met its unfortunate end under the wheels of an 18-wheeler truck on our highway of heroes.
So boys, here’s a call out on the replacement.

Dickies goes back to its roots with the 1922 collection. Modeled after original Dickies pieces from 1922, this collection gets back to the origins of American workwear. While the rest of the country enjoyed the roaring twenties, the Dickies man was working the forges of Pittsburgh and Henry Ford’s plants in Detroit. This collection honors that man, with four workwear pieces made in the Dickies factory at Uvalde, Texas.

Call it whatever you want, but the latest colorways for the Cinque C from Gourmet are the perfect way to broaden your summer wardrobe. Featuring simple canvas uppers with almond leather accents, these bad boys are the perfect compliment to a pair of crisp chinos and cigarillo in hand.

Rodney Smith studied under the famed Walker Lewis at Yale and received over 75 awards from celebrated sources like Carnegie, Rockefeller and Whitney’s. He only watches movies made before 1947 to this day and it is evident in the incredible photographs he takes.

Church’s helps you step up your shoecare game with the release of this valet box. In the old days, a valet was a personal gentleman that was employed by an individual gentleman (as opposed to a butler, who is employed by the house). Traditionally, a valet’s responsibilities would include manging his gentleman’s household financial affairs, handling travel arrangements, and caring for his clothing.
Damn, life was good.
Besides my gadget hording disposition, I have a strong appreciation for the ways of the past. Or at least the way I perceive the ways of the past. I like that men used to wear jackets, ties and hats wherever they went. I like the sound of records and the formality with which people posed for those black and white portrait photos. I like that people used to buy things to last a lifetime. I love antiques, soul records and old photos because of their aesthetics, but also because they server as reminders that if something is designed simply and intelligently, and crafted with care, it can last forever.
